Mississippi Modular Homes
Like in any part of the United States, the state of Mississippi is often visited by severe typhoons and tornadoes. Because of this, the residents often fear for their lives as well as their properties. During calamities like these, residents are usually found inside their home to seek for safety. In the August 28 episode of the series of Home Again on modular homes entitled Hurricane Proof Homes, it featured the houses built in Lexington, Mississippi as a safe haven during calamities. This show aims to educate and inform the viewers so they could learn more about modular homes and how it differs from conventional houses.
The one-hour show hosted by Danny Forster began by showing the production process of Safeway Homes. Safeway Homes is a large construction company that caters to the huge demand for modular houses. During the show, the manufacturing facility in Lexington was visited to check out the production process of the company.
During the show, the viewers were made aware on the strict guidelines being followed by modular housing construction companies, particularly Safeway Homes. The step-by-step production process was shown to the viewers: from the creation of each module up to the delivery to its construction site. They also showed how each module is being used like a jigsaw puzzle or a piece of Lego to build a house in just a matter of days.
Aside from showing the process in creating modular houses, the show also featured a hurricane victim named Rose Brown. Brown and her home in Pass Christian were used as a study during the segment of the show. She was later interviewed on how she felt after seeing her home created by Safeway Homes, which should be able to withstand the next hurricanes that will attack their country.
Calamities are inescapable and you could only do so much to prepare for it. Like what the president of Safeway Homes, Buddy Jenkins said, they assure their clients that each of the module that makes up their modular homes are built under the strict standards of their company. Jenkins further added that the company is confident that their houses are able to withstand winds having 160 miles per hour. They are also confident that the modular houses built by Safeway Homes are capable to stand the test of time.
During the show, the importance and benefits of modular houses were highlighted as well. The show was able to point out that modular houses are the best solution for the reconstruction needs that should be done along the Mississippi Gulf. The program was also able to point that modular houses are the best option for residents on Mississippi but has been rarely used for unknown reasons. However, modular house advocates are serious about promoting this type of house because Safeway Homes was also featured in several shows and publications, aiming to educate the people about how modular homes can change the way they live.
